In the following figure a simplified design of the architecture of the CEMon service is shown.

The Resource handler is responsible for discovering and managing the resources. There are currently three types of resources (the set can be extended when/where needed):

  • The Sensors

  • The Query processors. These represent different processors to specify conditions

  • The Actions. These represent the possible different actions to be performed when certainconditions are satisfied

The Request Handler component is responsible for managing the asynchronous notifications, which are stored in a Subscription repository. Actually this repository is split in two entities: one for the predefined subscriptions and the other one for the subscriptions defined after an explicit subscription operation.
